Today, I have a project to share for my Red Rubber Designs post. It is a card box with a variety of cards in it. I saw this box idea last month on a challenge blog and thought it was so clever. I decided to design an A2 sized box and kick it up a notch by making it a box full of coordinating cards. Awesome gift idea!
I used the patterned cardstock "Maggie" because I love the colors and it is double sided which is perfect for this box.
The box is 4.5" x 6" perfect for A2 envelopes and cards. I made it 1-1/8" deep so you can get several cards with envelopes in this gift box.
I made 3 different cards. My intent when I started was to create "simple cards", but ended up using pop dots, ribbon and stitching on each. Even with the pop dots and ribbon which can be bulky, I still have room for a couple more cards. So, depending on how flat the cards are you can get quite a few in this size box.
The separate cover creates a gate fold on top. I adhered the bottom of the box to the cover. {You could leave it separate or create a sleeve like a matchbox}
The front, I decorated with a Nestabilities {Labels 5} die cut and tag from Maggie's die cut sheet. The left flap is 1/8" longer so when it is closed there is no gap. To create a closure, I added 2 antique triangle loops and 2 metallic mini brads and some Maggie ribbon.
I created 3 different cards to go inside this gift box. All the cards use Maggie patterned cardstock and Maggie ribbon to coordinate with the box.

The second card uses the new release set "All Things of Nature". I also used the background stamp "Victorian Squares" and Seascape Palette ink on the blue patterned cardstock. It is blue on blue and did not show up very well in the pictures.

I love these cards, they are each beautiful. I must admit the bird one is my favorite, and not just because it was submitted for our Opus Gluei theme BUT because it is really well composed and the elements enhance it so nicely. I am so hesitant to stitch through paper and then I see lovely creations like this and I want to take the plunge!
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating with us at Opus Gluei and sharing your creativity.
This is a wonderful set. I love each card, but the stitching really finishes them. Thanks so much for playing along with us at OPUS GLUEI.
