Spellbinders - Cosmos Birthday

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have some birthday cards I made using Spellbinders Cosmos Backdrop and stencil bundle.  I found it on Amazon.  This background is so pretty and with the 4 layer coordinating stencils is so easy to color.  I made several color combinations and also played with the layout and the sentiment. The sentiment is from PTI stamp set Cut Away Tags - Summer.

The background is a BetterPress plate, which I inked with Memento Black ink and ran through my Spellbinder die cut machine to make the impression on PTI White cardstock.  I love the BetterPress plates for large backgrounds, gives a beautiful impression like it is printed.  Then, I colored the image using coordinating stencils.

The inks used are all PaperTrey Ink - Flowers: Pale Peony and Berry Sorbet; Flower Center: Summer Sunset and Honey Nut; Leaves: Green Parakeet and Simply Chartreuse

The first card above is a pink-peach version.  The base card is Pale Peony with a True Black matted image in the upper right corner and matted sentiment in the center.

Card 2 - Teals
The inks used are all PaperTrey Ink - Flowers: Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores; Flower Center: Summer Sunset and Honey Nut; Leaves: Green Parakeet and Simply Chartreuse

The second card above is a teal version.  The base card is Aqua Mist with a True Black matted image centered and matted sentiment across center of the background.

Card 3: Purples
The inks used are all PaperTrey Ink - Flowers: Lilac Grace and Amethyst Allure; Flower Center: Summer Sunset and Honey Nut; Leaves: Green Parakeet and Simply Chartreuse

The third card above is a purple version.  The base card is Lilac Grace with a True Black matted image centered and matted sentiment at an angle across the background.

Card 4: Bright Pinks
The inks used are all PaperTrey Ink - Flowers: Lovely Lady and Raspberry Fizz; Flower Center: Summer Sunset and Honey Nut; Leaves: Green Parakeet and Simply Chartreuse

The fourth card above is a bright pink version.  The base card is Raspberry Fizz with a True Black matted image centered and matted sentiment flag added to the background.

Simon Says Stamp - Heart Breeze Engagement

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have an engagement card using Simon Says Stamp "Heart Breeze" die.  The card is for my cousin's son, so needed a more rustic look.  I used some barnwood patterned paper from Craft Consortium, cut to 3.25 x 4.5".

I stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp! called "Sentiments for you" that I found in my stash.  Then die cut the heart breeze.  I backed the woodgrain panel with PTI Pure Poppy, then matted with PTI Pure Black.  The base card is PTI white cardstock 4.25 x 5.5", A2 size.

Watercolor flowers - Mother's Day

Happy Saturday and Mother's Day!

Today I have the Mother's day card I made for my mom.  I got a new watercolor set and was playing around creating free-hand flowers.

I created several images when experimenting, some I water colored the blooms then added a black pen outline and others I drew some flowers and water colored them.  The watercolor set I found on Amazon, Grabie is the brand.  The paints are in a metal travel carrying case and came with several brushes.

I used a Unity postage stamp die to mat the water colored image. To add some texture and interest, I used a Spellbinders 3D embossing folder called Efflorescent Flora, which was Jan 2024 Embossing folder of the month.  The base card is PaperTrey Ink Aqua Mist.

Close Up:

I made a few more images with multi-color flowers. Paring them with pink and purple base cards.  They make great any occasion cards.

Hot Air Balloon Anniversary

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have the 25th anniversary card I made for Mark.  I found this die set from InLoveArtShop which has the hot air balloon, clouds and dies to create a stunning break in the clouds.  I used PTI white, Pure Poppy, Kraft and Spring Rain cardstock.

The break in the clouds are 2 dies.  The larger was cut from white cardstock and smaller from metallic silver cardstock.  I used silver from our 25th anniversary.  The white and silver layers were adhered together and attached to the blue base card with pop dots.

To create the 3D balloon I cut the base balloon out of Kraft cardstock.  Then cut the top of the balloon out of Pure Poppy cardstock 4 times and folded and glued them together to create a fan that folds down to put in an envelope. The balloon was attached to the blue base card.

I added a few small clouds to the different layers and a Happy Anniversary sentiment. The sentiment is from PTI Cut away tags Summer, stamped on Kraft cardstock that I cut as a fish tail flag.

Watercolor Birthday

 Happy Saturday!

Today I have a birthday card I made for my grand-niece.  I bought a new watercolor set in January and was playing around creating free-hand flowers.  I have a couple monochrome images to share today.  I have several multicolor images to share in an upcoming post.

The watercolor set I found on Amazon, Grabie is the brand.  The paints are in a metal travel carrying case and came with several brushes.  It also came with a color swatch card which really helps identify the color you are looking for.

The first card is a pink version.  I chose colors that went with PaperTrey Ink Raspberry Fizz cardstock.  I used 140lb cold press watercolor paper.  The blooms and stems were painted freehand, then I added a black marker outline to define the center of the flowers and buds.

Here is a close up...
I used a Unity postage stamp die to mat the water colored image. I used a Spellbinders 3D embossing folder called Efflorescent Flora, which was Jan 2024 Embossing folder of the month, to add some texture and interest.

I made a second card in purples.
The cardstock is PaperTrey Ink Lilac Grace.

The cut out heart background was cut from a front panel is 4 x 5.25" PTI white cardstock.  I used the hearts cut out from the background and colored them to put in the envelope.  I colored them with Copic markers - R35, R46, R83.

The envelope was cut from PTI Kraft cardstock.  I added the colored hearts to the open envelope and some bakers twine around the outside.  The Happy Valentine's Day sentiment is an Angel Company stamp.  The base card is PTI Pure Poppy.

Spellbinders - Evergreens Christmas Card

Merry Christmas!

Today I have my last 2024 Christmas card to share.  It uses Spellbinders - Seasons Greetings Evergreen Press Plate and the Spellbinders BetterPress System.  This card has a lot of elements to create this scene.  The metal evergreen plate was inked with Memento black ink and image transferred to rag cotton cold press watercolor paper.  I used watercolors to paint the image.  After dry, I added a few sprays of tsukineko glimmer and splatters of watered down white paint, for snow and sparkle.

I used 2 die cuts for the windows; the upper one is Little Miss Muffet and is actually a screen door die but the outer frame makes a wonderful large arched window.  The second window below is Poppy Small Madison Die.  I painted 10 images and cut them to make 27 cards total.  I was able to get 2 window scenes for the large arched window out of 1 image and 3 window scenes out of 1 painted image for the smaller window die.

I created the wainscoting and trim using a Darice stripe embossing folder.  The green patterned paper I found in my paper stash, perfect for a vintage wallpaper.

Lastly, I added the Christmas Wishes die cut.

Hope you have a blessed Christmas!
Blessings to you,
Deb

Spellbinders - Gold Holly with Stencil coloring

Happy Saturday!

Today I have the third and last Christmas card to share using Spellbinders - Glimmer Holly Background.  I bought the bundle from Spellbinders, which had the hot foil plate and coordinating stencils for coloring the background.  For this card, I used gold foil on PaperTrey Ink white cardstock.

I colored the holly and leaves using the 4 layer stencil, 3 stencils are different leaves and 1 for the berries.  I used inks from PaperTrey Ink, Green Parakeet, New Leaf; for the holly leaves I used 2 inks Prairie Grass and Olive Twist.  To color the berries, Autumn Rose and Scarlet Jewel.

The Merry Christmas die I found on Amazon and I liked that it was all one piece, even the dot of the i is part of the Merry swoosh.  I matted the gold Merry Christmas sentiment on a piece of vellum to help it from getting lost in the background.  I used glue to attach the sentiment to the vellum, then applied glue behind the die cut to attach the vellum to the base card.  I nice trick so no glue or tape shows thru the vellum.  The vellum is from PaperTrey ink.

The base card is PTI Pure Poppy cardstock.  I also added a die cut poinsettia to this card, cut from pure poppy and gold cardstock.  The die has 5 pieces which I glued together to create the layered flower.

I made some cards vertical and some horizontal.

I will have another Christmas card tomorrow.

Spellbinders - Gold Holly and Colored Pencil

 Happy Sunday!

Today I have another Christmas card to share using Spellbinders - Glimmer Holly Background.  This the second card I made with this glimmer plate.  This one I used gold foil on blue cardstock (PaperTrey Ink - Enchanted Evening).

I colored some of the the holly and leaves with Prismacolor colored pencils.  This was a technique I saw in both online cardmaking courses I took this Fall.  The Stress Free Cardmaking Summit and Justine Hovey's online 12 Days of Christmas cardmaking tutorial.  Using the colored pencils on a dark cardstock is really striking and unexpected.  I was really drawn to trying it myself and this is the card I came up with.

The background is matted on gold cardstock and the Merry Christmas is die cut from the center of the gold mat. The Merry Christmas die I found on Amazon and I liked that it was all one piece, even the dot of the i is part of the Merry swoosh.  I matted the Merry Christmas sentiment on a piece of vellum to help it from getting lost in the background.  This was something I learned from Justine Hovey's online 12 Days of Christmas cardmaking tutorial.

I made some cards vertical and some horizontal.

Yesterday I posted a card created with this same glimmer plate in silver.
Saturday, I will have another card version using the stencil from the bundle.

Spellbinders - Silver Holly Christmas Card

Happy Saturday!

Today I have another Christmas card to share.  This card uses a Hot Foil plate from Spellbinders, which I bought in a bundle - Glimmer Holly Background.  I made 3 different cards with this glimmer plate.  This first one is a simple silver foil on blue cardstock (PaperTrey Ink - Enchanted Evening).  It is matted on silver cardstock and the Merry Christmas is die cut from the center of the silver mat.

The next 2 posts will show some other techniques using this same glimmer plate.

The Christmas card making class I took online in September - Stress Free Cardmaking Summit, was 3 days of cardmaking and technique tutorials.  It really kickstarted my Christmas card making in October and led to making lots of different cards using lots of different techniques.  I got out my watercolors, colored pencils, stencil and inks and one card is colored with Copics, so there is more to come in the next 4 posts.  More glimmer foil and BetterPress use too.

Die Cut Graduation Card

Happy Saturday,

Today, I have a graduation card I made for a friend at work.  She needed a card for a friend receiving her white coat.  A challenging request, but I found this die which I could make into a white coat shaker card.

A pretty simple card, die cut the black cardstock and mounted it on acetate.  Then outlined the coat with raised foam tape added some sequins to the middle and capped with white cardstock to created the shaker card.

Made a second card with more layers and less sequins.

My co-worker need 4 wedding cards too, so those cards will be featured in the next couple posts.

The Greetery - Song of Christmas

It's Christmas Eve Day!

Today, I have this year's Christmas card to share.  It is the most detailed card I've made in years, 6 die cuts, several stamps and a bit of coloring.  I saw this collection of stamps and dies at The Greetery.  It was their October 2022 release "Song of Christmas collection" which I got 4 sets in October, but of course I didn't start playing with until December.  I was really worried I would not get them done, but with some help from Mark, a Sunday and couple evenings after work and I had the 60 cards I needed this year.

The stitched jumbo fishtail banner die is from Die-Namics, cut from white cardstock and stamped with the greenery and flowers from Heaven and Nature Sings stamp set.  Inks are PTI Scarlet Jewel and Ripe Avocado.

The Treble Clef (Heaven and Nature Sings Dies) was cut from white cardstock and colored with E57 and YG95 Copic markers. The notes are from Noted dies and cut from black cardstock.   The staff is cut from Kraft cardstock.

Close Up

There were several Christmas song stamps to choose from in the Sing a Song of Christmas stamp set.  I chose 'O Come O Come Emmanuel", stamped in PTI Scarlet Jewel.

The Inside sentiment I borrowed from a Dayspring card...

"This Christmas, may God open

our hearts to His love…

our minds to His wonder…

our ears to His voice…

Our lives to His presence."

Wishing you a Blessed Christmas

Hot Foil - Honeycomb & Bee Birthday

 Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a card using hot foil.  It uses a couple sets - Honeycomb & Bees is a set I found on Amazon. The sentiment is a Yana Glimmer Spellbinders set.

I used gold foil and Spellbinders Glimmer Machine.  I've been really happy with the machine, really easy to use especially with the Spellbinders Platinum Die Cut Machine. machines vary, but I've been lucky no extra shims needed to get a good impression. If you are unfamiliar with Hot Foil, it came out a few years ago.  It uses both heat and pressure to transfer the foil to the cardstock.

I use Hammermill 110 lb weight cardstock for Hot Foil, it is inexpensive very smooth and the transfer is very clean and crisp.

The outer border is gold metallic paper cut with a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Scalloped Frame die

I colored the flower and some parts of the honeycomb with Copic markers.
Copic Colors: Y32, Y35, Y38, E33, E35, E37, W5, W7
Cardstock: PTI Smokey Shadow

MFT - Mice Time to Celebrate Shaker Card

 Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a shaker birthday card for our grand-nephew to share.  The cheese background die cut is one I found on Amazon.  I glued a piece of acetate behind the die cut to create the clear front for the shaker.  Then, I added thin foam tape around the 4 large holes, filled them with clay sprinkles and added the base card.

The Mouse and sentiment are from a My Favorite Things stamp set - "It's a Mice Time to Celebrate".  I colored the image with Copic Markers and cut it out by hand, then added it to the front.

Close Up:

Copic Colors:
YR09, Y32, Y35, Y38
