The patterned papers are all from one paper pad - Simple Stories Vintage Bliss.

I paperpieced the coat wrap in a plaid from Vintage Bliss. The rest of the image is colored with Copic markers.

Mabelle RO - Garden Joy

 

Hi All,

Today, I have a guest designer post for Mabelle.  I'm using an image I won from a hop a few months ago called Garden Joy.  I hadn't colored her yet so this was a perfect opportunity.   

I paired this sweet image with a paper pad from Doodlebug Designs called Flower Box.  Love the bright and fun colors.  I used 5 patterned papers from this pad.  I think that is a record for me!  Some were scrap pieces so that is good - using scraps.

When I colored this image, I was preparing to teach a Copic coloring class, it's been awhile, so I've been looking thru techniques.  I hadn't added hatching to an image in awhile and thought adding some to her hat would create some interest and texture.  The hat I'm happy with - the cart - well maybe I should have connected in the middle.  

The sun is a die from Lil Inkers Designs, with a gem placed in the center.  I added real stitching around the image and the perimeter of the mat background and to a couple of the pennants too.

Sketch Saturday Challenge #273

 

Happy Saturday!  We have a new sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday.

 Here is my interpretation:

 

I saw a fence in the border detail of the sketch.  I used a PTI picket fence die that I've had for quite some time.  So nice to finally use it :D

I stamped the fence with a woodgrain background from A|Muse and PTI soft stone ink.  I was hoping for a white washed fence look, with a hint of the woodgrain showing thru.  One more thing I've had for some time and finally used it.

The image is from Oak Pond Creations, an image that I won in a challenge.  This image is called "Marie's Strawberries".  I love strawberries.

 I rotated the sketch 90 degrees.

To created the mat for the sentiment I used a flower punch and punched it twice to create more petals.

I created a baseball themed card for Mark this year.  We both love baseball, our second date was a baseball game :)  With baseball in mind, I used a diamond rather than the hexagon shown in the sketch.

Mabelle RO - Penelope

Mabelle asked me be a guest designer in August - YaY! First assignment was to create a card using a brand new image - Penelope.  Isn't she cute!  Mabelle now has instant download, so no wait to receive your new image.  Also leave a comment on Mabelle's blog and have a chance to win a digi of your choice!

I paper-pieced her dress and then added a bit of shadow with R89 Copic.  The balloons are also paper-pieced. 

I have a second layout, which was actually the first card I made.   With all the patterns, I wasn't sure if it was too much and the image gets lost.  Thought I would show it anyway - imperfect stitching and all.

Sketch Saturday Challenge #270

 

We have come to a new month - can't believe it's August!  Can you??

The first Saturday of the month at Sketch Saturday means a DT member, Sparkle, is hosting the challenge this week.  She has an online store -- Sparkle that is and she was very generous and gave us an image of our choice to work with. :D This is Lemonade Ruby.  I worked with a digi but she is actually a rubber stamp.  The illustrator is Aki Fukuoka.  Super Cute - huh?

I ended up flipping the sketch end for end and using the mirror, other than that I stayed pretty literal to the elements of the sketch.

The patterned paper I paired with this great image was My Mind's Eye "Happy Day".
