Unity - What the Cluck Birthday

Today, I have the birthday card I made for my high school girlfriends.  I loved this Unity set when it came out last year. I got it when it was on sale last year and finally used it!  The set is called "What the Cluck?!".  

I attended an online card marking summit back in January and the focus was using your scraps.   I have a plastic bin next to my work desk where I started keeping my scraps this year. These cards were made with patterned paper scraps and I think they turned out great. I made 4.25 x 5.5" panels with the patchwork and sewed over the seams.  Then mounted the stitched panel on a cream base card. 

The image was stamped on white cardstock and colored with Copic Markers.

Copic Colors: E21, E23, E25, R46, YR14, YR16, YR18, B01, YG95

I cut the image with a stitched rectangle die, then aged it with PTI ink, Fine Linen, Kraft and Cocoa Bean ink and blending brush.  I stamped the sentiment on a fishtail banner and aged it with ink.  The circle and 55 are from a Spellbinders die set "Happy Birthday with Numbers" from 2018, retired unfortunately.

Unity - Peony Ledger Birthday

 Happy Saturday!

Today I have a birthday card using a stamp set from Unity called Peony Ledger.  The image is colored with Copic Markers.  The papers are from The Paper Studio - The Basics.  I chose 3 papers from the pad and made a patchwork.  

I have not done sewing on my cards in quite awhile. My sewing machine wasn't working quite right and I hadn't taken the time to troubleshoot the problem, but with some help from YouTube I got it threaded and tensioned correctly.

Added the sewed patchwork to a white base card and the stitched banner with the Happy Birthday sentiment.

A Day For Daisies - Flower Maiden 1

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a couple cards I made with a digital image from A Day For Daisies called Flower Maiden 1.  This is one of those images I purchased over 4 years ago and I don't think I ever used until now. I love the whimsy and elegance of this image, all at the same time.  I think it makes a perfect image for a birthday card.

I colored a few of these images, different hair colors and different dress color.  Above, I colored a blonde maiden in purple.  I tries to match hair color and favorite colors of the person I was making the card for.

A Day For Daisies - Flowers in Bottles

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a card using a digital image from A Day For Daisies - Flowers in Bottles.   I hadn't used a digital image in awhile so I printed several different images and started coloring while watching TV.  I should do that more often it was very productive.  

A Day For Daisies was one of my favorite digi shops, they closed a few years ago and it doesn't seem like they ever reopened.  You can find images on pinterest and the blog is still up. They gave a lot of free images if you went to their blog and joined their challenges. 

To use a digital image, I use Word to size the image and get multiples on the page.  Then print.  I have a laser printer, which works best.  The ink is heat set so you don't have to worry about ink smearing when coloring.   I use X-Press it cardstock in the printer for these images to color with Copic markers.

MFT - It's a Mice time to Celebrate!

 Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a birthday card using My Favorite Things "It's a Mice Time to Celebrate".  I made a couple versions varying the color of the mice, present and cardstock.  

This is a cute set, love the dancing mice, which were colored with Copic markers.  I added some stitching as a border and some sequins to make it a party scene.

Unity Stamps - Sweet Ellie #2

Happy Saturday!

Today I have a birthday card to share.  This card was made for our grand-nephew Luke who will be 1 years old this week.  They live in Alabama and his dad is a big Bama fan, so every once in awhile I make a card for one of the kids with an elephant on it.

This stamps is from Unity Stamps and I think it is just so sweet.  

The set is Sweet Ellie.  I colored the image with copic markers and added some stitching around the parameter of the image.

The pattern paper is The Paper Studio"Basics", which I found at Hobby Lobby.  The cardstock is PTI Terracotta Tile.

Unity Stamps - Celebrate the New #2

Today I have a birthday card I made for a friend's daughter who will be 14 years old this week.   I used a set from Unity Stamps - "Celebrate the New"

It was fun to color and simple to color too.  I added some stitching around the border.  The patterned paper is Stampin UP! and is perfect for her because she is really into stamping and coloring with alcohol markers. The cardstock is PTI Amethyst Allure, her favorite color, purple.

Stampin UP! - Forever Blossoms Wedding

Happy Saturday!

Today I have a wedding card I made for my brother.  My brother is getting married, which is so exciting!!  I used Stampin UP! "Forever Blossoms". 

I also got out some of my favorite Angel Company papers "Emma", which I have been hoarding for about 10+ years, for just an occasion like this!  When Christine showed me her Fall wedding colors, TAC Emma papers is the first thing that came to mind.  I LOVE that color pallete.  It was one of the last new TAC papers before the company closed.

Simon Says Stamp! - Heart Breeze

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have two really simple cards that highlight some dies I've had for some time.  I've been collecting dies for the last couple years.  There are so many out there and I'm drawn to ones that have stitching incorporated.  

The heart swirl is a called 'Heart Breeze' and is from Simon Says Stamp!  Such a sweet die. It does not cut, other than the hearts and dots, so I combined it with a My Favorite Things 'Stitched Basic Edges' die.  This is a really neat die, it has stitches on both sides the cut, so you end up with 2 panels which are mirror image of each other.

The ink, cardstock and patterned papers are PaperTrey Ink Pure Poppy and white.  I created a second card with a stitched edge at the top also.

Just Rite Sympathy Damask with Stitches

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a super simple Sympathy card.  I used Just Rite Sentimental Damask stamp set.  The dies are Lil Inkers Design stitch rectangles and My Favorite Things Sentiment Label Strip.  

The cardstock is PTI Dark Indigo and White stamped with PTI Dark Indigo ink.  I think this would be a great card for any occasion and the stamp set gives lots of options.

Sympathy - Brayer Ink Background

Happy Saturday!

I was looking through Pinterest for inspiration and was reminded of a brayer technique I hadn't done in years with reinker inks and baby wipe.

I placed the wipe on a large acrylic block and inked it with purples, blues and greens.  Then I used a brayer to pick up the stripes and apply the ink to the paper.  Originally I was hoping to create a landscape scene, but it I didn't come up with anything I liked so I just die cut the background and stamped a the sentiment and added some smooth bubble gems.

The mat is vellum, another inspiration from a card I saw online.  I always forget about using vellum, it adds a lot of interest.   

In the end this card took 3 weeks to come together.  Sometimes it is just hard, but I love how it came together in the end.

Here is a second card with the background, this one I pressed the paper on the inked wipe so the texture transferred.

Happy Anniversary 2

Today, I have another Anniversary card I made this year.

This card uses several dies.  

The white cardstock perimeter with dot border

was cut with Spellbinders pierced rectangle.

The diagonal stitching was cut with Die-namics Stitched Strip. 

The hearts are part of this die set.

The Happy and Anniversary stamps are from Hero Arts

stamp and cuts set - Happy.  
I used the Happy die to add a layer. 

Cardstock and ink are PTI White and Pure Poppy.

A Day for Daisies - Beauties

Happy Anniversary

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a card made on my Scan N Cut machine.
I saw something similar on Pinterest but did not have the dies, so
I created the heart cut pattern on my machine.

I used notebook cardstock from Amuse Studios and cut

3 hearts of various sizes using my Scan N Cut machine.

I added the stitching around the hearts with a black pen and

the Happy Anniversary sentiment.  Then backed the front panel

on red polka-dot paper with pop dots.  

One last embellishment of a ribbon and the card with finished.

I used this same design for Mother's Day cards too.
