Hot Foil - Butterfly Birthday

 Happy Saturday!

Today, I have another birthday card I made with 2 Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil plates - Butterflies and Birthday Hugs & Wishes.  

This card is my version of a card I saw using the Glimmer Butterflies set online.

  I watched a lot of YouTube videos to learn how to use the Hot Foil Machine, before diving in.  

The videos really paid off.  I was able to get great results right away.  It also gave me a list of items I needed...like the best cardstock to use, best cutter for foil and tips for lining up the foil plate so it is straight.  Plus, it featured these 2 plates which I ended up buying so I could make this card.

I used a variety of foils - Spellbound 4 pack 

    The machine came with gold and silver.  I added "skybright" which is a light blue also.

The white cardstock is Hammermill 110lb weight cardstock.

Hot Foil - Honeycomb & Bee Birthday

 Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a card using hot foil.  It uses a couple sets - Honeycomb & Bees is a set I found on Amazon. The sentiment is a Yana Glimmer Spellbinders set. 

I used gold foil and Spellbinders Glimmer Machine.  I've been really happy with the machine, really easy to use especially with the Spellbinders Platinum Die Cut Machine. machines vary, but I've been lucky no extra shims needed to get a good impression. If you are unfamiliar with Hot Foil, it came out a few years ago.  It uses both heat and pressure to transfer the foil to the cardstock. 

I use Hammermill 110 lb weight cardstock for Hot Foil, it is inexpensive very smooth and the transfer is very clean and crisp.

The outer border is gold metallic paper cut with a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Scalloped Frame die. 

I colored the flower and some parts of the honeycomb with Copic markers.

Spellbinders Hot Foil - Peony Anniversary

Happy Saturday!

Today I have an anniversary card to share.  I like to send anniversary cards to all my siblings, nieces and high school friends, so about 8 cards a year.  

The last few years, I've just made one design and then personalized it with colors from their wedding...purples, pinks, peach, yellow, blues and burgundy so it makes a really nice variety.  I even googled peonies colors and they come in so many colors, so I though this was a great hot foil plate to use this year.  The plate is from Spellbinders - Peony and I paired it with another Spellbinders glimmer plate Yana special sentiments plates with dies.

I've made 3 versions so far...purple, pink and peach.
Purple was the 1st one I made into a card, for a May anniversary.  

The hot foil is gold with pearl accents.

A Day For Daisies - Flower Maiden 1

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a couple cards I made with a digital image from A Day For Daisies called Flower Maiden 1.  This is one of those images I purchased over 4 years ago and I don't think I ever used until now. I love the whimsy and elegance of this image, all at the same time.  I think it makes a perfect image for a birthday card.

I colored a few of these images, different hair colors and different dress color.  Above, I colored a blonde maiden in purple.  I tries to match hair color and favorite colors of the person I was making the card for.

Sweet Blooms Border - Mother's Day

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have the Mother's Day card I made this year.  I used my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine for this card.  The Hot Foil Plates are "Sweet Blooms Border" and "Yana Sentiments & coordinating dies" by Spellbinders.  

The white cardstock is Hammermill 110lb weight cardstock.  I've had great results with this cardstock, perfect impressions.  The Glimmer hot foil system uses a combination of heat and pressure to transfer the gold foil to the cardstock.  

I colored the flower border with Copic markers.

The Greetery - 2022 Graduation Card

Happy Saturday!

Today, I gave a graduation card to share.  This card started a whole obsession.  It all started when a craft company called The Greetery had this 2022 Graduation Bundle 50% off in April.  It was quite the bundle - sentiment stamps, die, hot foil plate and 3 stencils. The "Congrats, Grad" is from the sentiment stamp set, red is the die cut, the silver 2022 is done with a hot foil plate and the silver stars uses one of the stencils and silver embossing paste.

So, I received the bundle within a couple days and played the die cuts and stenciling...but the hot foil plate - I wasn't sure what to do with that plate.  I have the Spellbinders Platinum die cutting machine.  Spellbinders makes the Glimmer Hot Foil machine, so I ended up researching and purchasing it.  

I spent about a week watching how to videos on YouTube and taking notes on tips, techniques, the best cardstock to use and how to get great results. 

Hot foiling uses a combination of heat and pressure to transfer the foil to the cardstock.  The Glimmer machine has a base plate that you heat which replaces you normal die cut base.  You heat the metal plate on the glimmer base, add spellbinder foil, then your cardstock and 2 glimmer plates to the sandwich. Then run the heated sandwich through the Spellbinders Platinum die cut machine.  Here is a short video showing the Hot Foil process. 

My machine works great without extra cardstock shims or anything other than the plates provided.  Every machine is different, so I was excited I didn't have any experimentation...it just worked.  And...the obsession began.  

The cardstock recommended online is white Hammermill 110 lb cardstock.  It is not very expensive and works great for hot foil.  You need a very smooth cardstock for a good transfer.  I had already made the red die cut using PTI Pure Poppy cardstock.  It is a heavy and smooth cardstock, so just used it and it worked really well.  I have lots of PTI cardstock so I look forward to trying more colored cardstock in the future.  

I made quite a few cards using hot foil, which I will post in the coming months.  Next week, I will post the Mother's day card I made with a hot foil border and sentiment.

My Interpretation:

I found this image 'What if' and went with the comic book feel.  The balloon was cut on my Scan N Cut machine.  I added a few clear enamel dots around the balloon and pearls to the colored image.

My second card uses the Freebie Sleeping Feline.  I also used one of the newly released grafitti images from Thursday - Dream.

I used an embossing folder that I've had for awhile, the brick pattern.  I used a white Prismacolor pencil to add the mortar. 

After I colored the Dream graffiti, I embossed it and added it to my brick wall.

Verve - Surely Goodness

Hi All - have an non-DT card today.  Needed some any occasion cards and get well cards also (those will be in a separate post) so I made a few cards over the weekend. 

I've been wanting to use this set from Verve called "Surely Goodness" and this DCWV Latte mat stack I got on clearance last year.  Love the color combination in this paper stack.  So nice to use some items I've had for awhile too.

This is a really simple card, which was totally inspired by a card Jen posted July 11th.  I loved the layout and how she added the twine/string to hide the seam between the 2 paper panels.  

The flower is 2 stamps cut out and layered with a self-adhesive pearl in the center.  The ink is PTI Plum Pudding.  The cardstock is PTI Vintage Cream.  The sentiment is stamped with PTI Dark Chocolate ink.

Taylored Expressions May Card Kit

Hi All,

Today, I have several cards I made with Taylored Expressions May Card Kit to share.  Here is the May stamp of the Month "Cute Pie".  A really cute set...here is -- 

 

I'm really loving these card kits.  I subscribe to the deluxe kit which comes with the stamp of the month, patterned paper pad, coordinating cardstock and ribbon.  The patterned paper pad for May is from Echo Park, "Sweet Girl".  

This first one is a simple one, white on white with a few pops of color.  I love how the paper and stamps match, so that is how I chose the flower colors.  I stamped the flower with PTI Pure Poppy and then again with Memento Angel Pink.  The leaves are stamped with PTI Simply Chartreuse.  I cut out the flowers and leaves.  

The flower and center are popped with the leaves behind.  I added a floral panel with sentiment and stitching. 

 

The next card is a fun one.  I paired the close line paper with the clothes line image.  I did some paper piecing on this one.  The red panel is popped.  I've seen this on many blogs and I think it such a clean accent.

The third card is a really girly one.  The base card is PTI Sweet Blush cardstock.  I used a scalloped border from one of the patterns in the paper pad.  

The dress is paper pieced.  The sentiment is cut from one of the papers in the paper pad.

The last card I created has an S-shaped front flap which was cut with a PTI die.  I stamped the other flower in the set with PTI Pure Poppy ink and cut them out.  I added pearls to the center and a cross stitch floss stem to each flower.

I really had fun playing with set over Memorial Day weekend and better yet I'm caught up on my kits - yay!  Waiting on the June kit to come. :D

The patterned paper is new from Simple Stories - Vintage Bliss, which I thought was perfect for this image.  I actually took two pictures with and without the Glossy Accents and decided on the one with. :D  I was so relieved that I didn't ruin the card - Whew!
